Edmonton Funicular

With a series of vast staircases, glass elevator, trails and numerous lookout platforms, the Edmonton funicular serves as both a functional and beautiful connection between downtown Edmonton and the treasured shores of the North Saskatchewan River.

Designed by Canadian architecture firm, Dialog Architects, this $24 million project features a wealth of Kebony utilized as decking, cladding and seating accents. The natural beauty of Kebony wood made it the perfect complement to the River Valley landscape and its performance record in cold climates that experience tough winter conditions, solidified Kebony as the best choice for this remarkable structure.

This is the second major architectural project in Edmonton for which Kebony was specified; the 170 stairs of the widely lauded Edmonton Funicular, completed in late 2017, were made with Kebony wood also.
